Timnath is a small, prosperous town located in northern Colorado near Fort Collins and only 30 minutes from downtown Denver. Timnath is a quaint little place with convenient amenities and various community events, such as an annual 4th of July parade and carnival.

An Overview of Timnath, Colorado

Timnath is located in Weld County and is surrounded by farmland to the north and east with small clusters of farms that produce corn, sugar beets, and alfalfa. To the south of Timnath lies Interstate 25, and just west sits Horsetooth Reservoir.

Located between Fort Collins and Loveland, the town is home to the Timnath Reservoir and Poudre River, which visitors can fish or kayak in. One highlight of this area is nearby Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, a popular recreation area with hiking trails.

The town, one of the oldest communities in Northern Colorado, is rich in history, having been a stop for settlers and Native Americans alike. The early settlers came to Timnath for the rich farming land and built their homesteads like those found in Loveland, Windsor, Fort Collins, and Greeley.

It was founded by William and Maurice Wieland in 1907 on the original homestead of Adolph Coors. Adolph Coors was a Prussian-German immigrant from Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia in 1847. He established a brewery in Denver in 1873 and founded the Coors Brewing Company.

With small-town charm, big-city amenities like nearby I-25 and Denver, the strong farming culture that surrounds them, and plenty of open space to play or relax, the residents all work together to create a tight-knit community with family and friend-focused events and activities.
