🤒 Flu Season Surges Across Colorado — Flu hospitalizations are already surpassing last year’s peak, prompting renewed masking in some health systems and tighter visitor restrictions as hospitals emphasize prevention and vaccination.
🐺 Federal Government Threatens Wolf Management Takeover — U.S. Fish & Wildlife officials warn Colorado they may assume control of the state’s wolf reintroduction program unless reporting and compliance standards are met within 60 days.
🚲 Fort Collins Expands Bike & Mobility Registration — The new Bike Index system lets residents register bikes, scooters, skateboards, strollers, mobility devices, and more — improving recovery rates for lost or stolen property.
🐈 Suspected Fatal Mountain Lion Incident Under Investigation — A woman was found deceased near Crosier Mountain on Jan. 1 following a reported mountain lion encounter. CPW euthanized two lions in the area pending necropsy results, noting such attacks are extremely rare.
💧 Windsor Utility Rates Increasing — Water, sewer, and stormwater rates will rise beginning Feb. 1 to fund major infrastructure replacement projects, increasing a typical monthly household bill by about 26%.
