Do you want to live in Northern Colorado but feel like Fort Collins is not for you? If you’d still like that small-town feel while being close to Fort Collins and Greeley, Windsor Colorado might be the place for you.
Today, we’re talking about living in Windsor to help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.
The Growth of Windsor
Windsor has certainly come a long way, especially in the last 10 years. Today, it nears 30,000 people which means there is over a 50% population growth in the last 10 years.
A lot of that is due to residential and commercial development. In reality, Windsor is just a bedroom community for now but it is growing from the heart of Windsor out.
The Employment Base
Eastman Kodak was in Windsor at one point but unfortunately, that employment base is now gone.
Vestas Blades America is a wind turbine manufacturer that is a major employer in Windsor Colorado. There are a few more, but really, again, if you’re living in Windsor you are more than likely toing to be commuting to Fort Collins, Greeley or Loveland.
The Biggest Benefit of Living in Windsor
While there are a lot more food options in Windsor than there was 5-10 years ago. There are only so many. You can explore The Winsor Mill Tavern or Chimney park, but you’ll only go there so many times. From there, you’re probably going to head to Fort Collins for your dining options or date nights.
This is one of the biggest benefits of living in Windsor. It’s so close to Fort Collins but it’s a more affordable option.
Entertainment options
There are some great entertainment options in Windsor and there will probably be even more of them in the near future. Here are the best of them:
- The Summit Windsor is a bowling alley, laser tag, arcade and restaurant where families and friends can spend time and have fun
- Budweiser Event Center – technically a Loveland address, but come on, this is JUST outside of Windsor. Music events, shows and the Colorado Eagles hockey team
- Two golf courses with at least one more coming
- The Windsor lake
- Phenomenal views of the mountains
Final thoughts
Windsor is not specific to any age range. All are welcome in Windsor but I’m seeing it as a great place for young families who can afford living in Northern Colorado and enjoy all what Northern Colorado has to offer. It is also a great retirement community with patio homes for those who are looking at a more laid back lifestyle.
With the median sales price of around $500,000, around 30,000 people, 15 minutes distance to Fort Collins, Windsor is a great little community that’s growing rapidly but still has a small-town vibe.
