Fort Collins is considered one of the best places to live in the country. But no place is perfect! That’s why today, we’re talking about reasons NOT to move to Fort Collins.
In case you missed my previous article about the biggest reasons not to move here, you can check it out here: 3 Reasons NOT to Move to Fort Collins Colorado
With that said, here are the top 3 reasons not to move to Fort Collins in 2022.
Our consistent development, construction, and population growth
Fort Collins continues to be listed as one of the best places to move to. Naturally, when people hear that, they start considering potentially moving here, exploring their possibilities, reading about the pros and cons of Forts Collins, etc. Even though we’re still a relatively small community, we’re continuously growing at a decent rate (between 1-2% growth per year).
With that significant population growth, there’s a significant amount of construction and development happening. If you do NOT want to be around consistent building and construction, Fort Collins may not be for you.
Patchy cell service
Another reason you may not want to move to Fort Collins is the patchy cell service. For example, in Old Town Square between 10 AM and 2 PM, that cell network tends to get pretty jammed up and it can slow your data down significantly.
There are also dead patches here and there (Golden Meadows, near Poudre Valley Hospital, North of Terry Lake), so you should be prepared for that. Fortunately, we live in a gig economy so you can always connect your phone to our municipality-funded Fiber gigabit internet or WIFI.
Air quality & wildfires
Over the last few years, we’ve seen more wildfires than we usually do in Colorado. With that said, the air quality has been a point of conversation across the entire country, including Fort Collins.
On top of that, we have Weld County to the east of Fort Collins which does significant oil and gas drilling and also generates poor air quality. But hopefully, Fort Collins will be able to combat these issues.
So there you have it! Those are the 3 Reasons NOT to Move to Fort Collins. However, if you’re able to move past these, I’m sure you’ll love it here.
